Suggestion for a social thread...

A lot of people on MSE seem to stay in their own areas, and as I'm looking to buy a house in the next 18 months, this is where I want to be. I ventured into Discussion Time once when I first arrived and saw a terrible array of discussions going on. I've not been in the since. :eek:
I've been peeping around the other MSE forums and noticed that the DFW people have a sub-forum for diaries and chat threads, the bankrupt board has the Bankrupt Arms, the MFW have various diaries and there is also the MoneySaversArms.
I noticed that a lot of the more social or fun posts on here seem to be whisked off or locked and I feel that maybe we need our own 'Debator's Arms' (just a suggestion) so that we can socialise without the fear that we'll be whisked off to DT, and not be able to find our way back here!
Is this a crappy idea?

I was thinking more of a thread like they have in the bankrupt board called the "The Bankrupt Arms", where they socialise without fear of being 'off-topic' or clogging up the board with chat. Maybe it could be a sticky?
I like your idea of a sub-board though, that's taking it to the next level and thinking big!

Hi all
This board was meant for discussion around a certain set of topics, hence why some of them will have been moved to fit in better around the other areas. There are other boards which have a more chat element (ie Moneysavers Arms).
For the forum team to look at your ideas, I'm moving this thread to the site feedback board.0 -
A daily chat thread would be a good move for the recession etc board.
It may get a bit heated sometimes but, at least, it will keep some of the banter in one place rather than sprinkled over other threads taking them off topic......and then whooshed into The Arms /DT.
Perhaps Miss Kool could start one each day or evening to run 24 hrs. Is that how it works? It may help to keep the board on topic too.0
