Credit card in red. Good or bad time to claim?

Hello,

First post, so please be gentle with me.

Situation:

Made redundant.

Can't pay card debts and CC company getting heavy.

Is now a good or a bad time to request current and historical late-payment charges back?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thing is, I can't pay anything of my debt at the moment and I don't want to provoke them into having me made a bankrupt.

I know it's said that "business is business" but I suspect that some "businesses" can sometimes forget that and seem to make it their "business" to punish an individual - almost on a personal basis.

Would it be better to wait until such time as my indebtedness is sorted out prior to risking raising someone's hackles?

    Regards.
