Co-op bank upgrade

Hubby has Cashminder account and was contacted by branch to say he could upgrade his account. They took all his details and ran 2 credit checks...came back as refused. On electrol role at same address 16 plus years, in same job 23 years, weekly wage paid into account, run Cashminder account for 8 years with no problems. No adverse on credit files. They said they would try another type of current account and have done 3 more credit checks!! Not had any reply back yet but we will be a bit annoyed if it's another refusal...why do they bother to contact you offering an upgrade....and the say no!! And why do 5 credit checks!

Seems a trifle unfair, doesn't it.

Co-op don't do direct upgrades which you have obviously just found out.

You could get your Husband to ask the Co-op to remove the double searches.

If your OH truly has a clean credit record then why doesn't he try another bank? (After getting all those searches removed, of course)

    Congratulations.

Tell your Husband to get them to remove the additional searches, as they have opened him an account now.

You could e-mail Experian and ask them to investigate on your behalf.

Could he not just have the normal Current Account or the Current Account Plus that don't have a monthly charge?

Privilage Account Benefits only if you really need them.

Why did they refused the free account but was successful on the one they charge for.
    Seems strange to me.
