Any way to get a good deal on a Macbook?

Hi guys,

I realise that looking for a cheap Mac is like looking for a cheap Rolls Royce but I just can't get over the desire to buy a Macbook.

Does anyone know of any way to get one at a better price?
The prices always seem to be pretty fixed.

Know anyone who'll lend you a Balaclava and a firearm?

I think your missing the point of this moneysaving forum eh?

You'll get one off eBay but make sure it's got all it's receipts and what not. I've noticed Argos sell them ever so slightly cheaper so look into resellers

If you know someone in Higher Education, that is your best bet, they offer good discounts to students/staff, but other than that...

University students get a 14% discount, so if you know any, you can get them to buy it for you. Alternatively some companies offer corporate discounts for employees so it might be worth checking any schemes your employer runs.

Alternatively, eBay!! I got a G4 Powerbook off their from a guy who refurbs and resells. Be very careful on eBay though, of course.

Or what about a refurb direct from the Apple store, you can save hundreds that way... (click the Refurb store on the Apple Store site)

An educational discount or the Apple refurb store are your best bets.
  • If you can get HE discount you can get 17% off (unless its changed) and Apple Care for £49 even better if you live near an Apple store as you can drop them off in there for any reapirs and they will even help install a new OS*!!!!!

    * my colleague updated his G5 to Leopard and the apple genius did it for him!!!
