DVI-to-VGA output issue betw. Dell Hybrid and Samsung LCD

Right then - I'm flummoxed.

I have a Dell Studio Hybrid desktop and a Samsung LCD-TV (LE26R74BDX). Up until a week ago, I had the Samsung working as a monitor via the DVI-VGA cable that came with the Hybrid.

Last weekend, I moved flats. Unplugged everything at the old place, re-connected it in the new place and switched to PC Mode on the Samsung, to be met with a 'Mode not supported' message on screen when I started everything up

Checking the resolution of the Hybrid, it was set to 1280x720, which is what the TV runs at. I have also tried setting the refresh to 60Hz on the Hybrid, with no luck.

Anyone know how to fix this? I don't understand how it worked before and now doesn't.

I can output over HDMI, but with serious overscanning. I'm not really interested in using the HDMI out, as the max resolution I will display on the TV was handled perfectly by the VGA prior to the move and I use the HDMI connection on the DVD for my DVD player.

Puzzled.

Have you tried booting the computer with the TV turned on throughout? Often, the computer scans the TV to discover what resolution to output to.

Alternatively you could go into your desktop settings and try to set the resolution for the TV manually.
