O2 - Losing faith!

This relates to the Apple Store thread I've just posted.

Upgraded to an Apple iPhone in Jan, however, the volume botton dropped off at the weekend! Rang O2 who didn't want to know, they said it was wear and tear and wouldn't touch it, they didn't even offer me a rapair at my own expense!

Luckily, I took it to Apple and they gave me a new one free of charge, but if I hadn't have done that O2 would have expected me to spend the rest of my contract (15 months) without a volume button, not to mention any other cosmetic faults that may develop in that time!

Shame on you O2, your customer service used to be second to none!

  • I'm surprised by this, and think its a shame as i sent a letter to O2 to congratulate their service in January. I had my iphone stolen from my pocket (at least we think it was stolen) and it wasn't insured yet when i rang O2 willing to pay for a replacement they sent me a new handset and sim card free of charge without a police report number or anything and it was with me within 2 days. This may have partly been because i was crying like a sap though at losing my phone, but still i greatly appreciated it, as a student who hadn't a clue what to do in that situation they were extremely helpful and advised me what to do and everything!
    About Apple, they are always great :D

    My phone (not an iphone) broke less than two months after I had it.
    Phoned o2 and the nice man said I will send you a new one immediately.
    No questions and no fuss.

    Excellent customer service.
    Sorry that the OP had such a poor experience.
