Car Tax Help

Our car tax expires today - however we cant find the V5 documnet anywhere and the reminder sent from DVLA is in my friends house where i left it - friend has gone to Ireland till Saturday.
Is there anything we can do ?? Can we ring DVLA and get the reference number off the reminder they sent ? Cant go to post office as i said we cant find the V5 documnet. HEEEELp

From DVLA; -

"How do I apply for a tax disc without my reminder or Registration Document/Certificate?

To re-license a vehicle using this service you must always have a reminder or Registration Document/Certificate.

You will need to contact DVLA Vehicle Enquiries for advice. The telephone number is 0870 240 0010.

An advisor will be able to assist you: 8am to 8.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5.30pm Saturdays"



However don't use the 0870 number, (unless you have a call package that includes them), use this one 01792 782341

DVLA cannot give you reference number.

If you can, keep car off road from midnight tonight til your friend is back on Sat and re-tax.

Or you can go to your local DVLA office tomorrow and re-new tax. You will need to order and pay for a new V5 in order to do this - £25.

You will need

Valid Insurance
Valid MOT
V62 for new V5
V10 for taxing
£25 for V5
£ for tax
Proof of ID if changing address eg bank statement dated within last 3months.

As long as car is off road you have up to 14th to tax.
