iRiver H10 - problems loading albums to it from PC

Hello, I wonder if anyone is able to help at all on a problem I'm experiencing trying to move music from my pc to iRiver H10. I have two of these and different problems on each one..

1st one - It doesn't seem to recognise the devise at all and nothing is happening.. v strange

2nd one - It is loading the music onto the browser for some reason instead of under the music section.

Is there an easy way to load music albums to these devises please, or do I need to get updated software loaded to it?

Any help appreciated... thank you....

By downloading the latest version of the software does this normally fix these type of issues...

The main issue is the PC not recognising the iRiver. Transferring files onto the iRiver is a simple drag & drop operation (it'll show up as a separate drive, with folders, subfolders etc.), but obviously if the PC doesn't realise it's there, then it's a non-runner. Updating the firmware might help - worth a try.

    Some potentially insultingly obvious questions:

What version of Windows / operating system are you using?
Is the iRiver powered on when you connect?
Is the USB socket on the PC definitely working?
Is th USB cable you're using sound?

What version of Windows / operating system are you using? hmm will need to check :o
Is the iRiver powered on when you connect? Yep
Is the USB socket on the PC definitely working? Yep
Is th USB cable you're using sound? Yep

It's strange as I have two of these and the second one did work but still don't know why it is saving the music files to browser instead of to the music directory
