Looking on the McDonalds website it appears most of them have free Wifi hotspots.Anyone know if they are any good for download speeds?

You won't be able too. They enforce session limits for data transfer combined with filter/restrictions on what you can and cannot do with their service. P2P is not one of the things they permit.0 -

I connected to McD, while on holiday last week, 1MB speed, better than at home, could you not use a downloads manager and re connect if connection is droppedEvery day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm WELSH. .0
