.......I will be fininshing my PGCE mid June and have a job starting at the beginning of September. Does anyone know if I'm going to entitled to claim any benefits forthe 10 weeks or so I'm off?

probably not as you are not looking for work and therefore unfortunatly would not fit into any of the boxes needed to be able to get benafits0

Will you be looking for work in that time? If so you should be able to claim.
In some years, in some subjects, some LEAs would start contracts in July in order to attract staff - I don't know if any still do.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
