Large car pedals - disability probs
Options
Hi,
I have a Vauxhall Astra LS, T reg plate and due to chemo last year, causing nerve damage my feet and legs are numb.
I have been looking for larger foot pedals as the factory fitted clutch & brake pedals are 2 and half inches square, the accelerator is 1 and half inches width by 3 or 4 inches high. Due to the clutch and brake being so tiny I'm having issues feeling them properly.
I took myself off the road for a year but now my feet are getting a bit better I've allowed myself to drive short distances to get back into normality (post box, estate shop etc).
I found some larger pedals in Halfords for £20, but the pedal arm (at the back of the pedal), is so thick my hubby had nowhere to drill through to attach the new pedals. I've Googled and looked on Ebay but I'm having no luck finding anything suitable.
I wondered if anyone here (any mechanics!), would know what I could do, or if there's a solution to fitting the Halfords pedals without drilling? The pedals were taken back to the shop but can be bought again. Also hubby is not in work as of the end of May, so money is an issue.
Crossing fingers someone has an idea!!!!! :j
Thanks in advance,
Lisa

Hi aquarian,
You should get more help with this on the Motoring board so I've moved your thread over there.

Have you checked with Vauxhall? If anyone will know, they will."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Have you tried driving in shoes with harder (solid) soles?0

To the OP.
I would advise contacting your local Motability centre. Most large towns and cities have one. These guys adapt cars for all manner of different reasons and will be best placed to tell you exactly what to do.0 -
Consider looking up some local metal fabricators, the will knock something up in no time
on a side note do you need an OK from any body to be driving0 -
Not very helpful but time for an Automatic?0
