aaroute planner with a difference

Hi everyone,

I use the aa route planner an awful lot to get routes for work etc... What I'm after though instead of putting in a start point and end point then it working out the route is a route planner that I can enter the destination and start point so it shows a route but one that I can edit.

For instance, If I was travelling from Luton to london it would tell me to go down the M1. If I didn't want to do that I'd like to be able to drag the line to a road I want to go on and then it recalculate the distance. Does such a thing exist?

On my sat nav I can put in 'avoid motorways' but sometimes I don't want to completely avoid them I just don't want to go on the motorway for a small section.

Any suggestions? Cheers everyone.

Hi, I appreciate you have now found an answer to your question but I work for the AA and thought I would add the following as this may help you at some stage in the future. We are about to introduce some enhanced functionality to our routeplanner, which will allow you to drag various parts of the route. It won't be as 'free' as to allow for you to just pick up any part of a route and move it, but it will enable you to add any number of via points which can then be dragged and dropped as you wish with the route being recalculated each time to take the route through the new via point. You can use this functionality to avoid certain motorways, whilst routing via others.
    I hope this helps.

Surely you might as well use the google maps as the aa route planner is powered by google anyway

When will these changes be rolled out? Why are you not going the whole hog and only allowing you to slightly change the routes?
