Acer one running Linux (Linpus) IPlayer problem

Just got the Acer 150 which comes with Linux.I have made this dual boot so it can run Linpus or Ubuntu Remix.Running on Linpus i can view IPlayer programs but not download them. The message says upgrade your flash.
The selections are
YUM for Linux
.tar.gz for Linux
.rpm for Linux
.deb for Ubuntu 8.04+

Which one am i suppose to download?

I am a complete novice to Linux and have played about with it for a couple of days but i still dont have a clue.

Any help appreciated.

Linpus is apparently based on Fedora, so give YUM a go and if that doesn't work, try RPM. I don't know much about Linpus so I've had a quick search of the net.

Apparently this site has a lot of useful info:

(this forum won't allow me to post links yet!)

and under 'System' you will find Add/Remote software. Perhaps from there you can tell it where to find a YUM/RPM file and it will install it for you?

If all else fails, boot Ubuntu netbook remix and download the .deb file. Once it's downloaded, you can double-click it and it should install.

I've got an Asus eee PC and it's 100 times more useful with Ubuntu netbook remix on it :D

Somebody might contradict me here, but I don't think that it is possible to download those iPlayer TV shows with Linux.
I've never found out how to do it, anyway.

The iPlayer software was recently released for Linux which allows you to download the applications. Before that, you could only stream them.

Running Ubuntu i have now managed to get it working and the iplayer desktop installed (the .deb file came up with a lipcurl error? yesterday but today installed fine)

Running Linpus and trying YUM it comes up with a message its already installed click OK then the message "No packages were given for installation" .

Running Linpus and trying RPM the same messages are shown.

If you still want to get it running in Linpus, I suggest you look at the forum link I posted and ask on there. There are plenty of Linpus users there and they'll be in a much better position to help you (I've never used Linpus!).

to cure that error in future, just open up the synaptic package manager (under System > Administration i think) and type the package (in this case, lipcurl) that it requires into the search box and mark the package for installation
