The curse of Ebay strikes again!

I have a couple of items Im waiting for that I purchased over 10 days ago, from 2 different ebay sellers so I sent them both emails yesterday chasing the items.

I got my replies this morning - amazingly they have both suffered family bereavements & haven't posted the items yet, but would do ASAP!

Im seriously considering stopping selling on Ebay - it often affects your & your family's health! ;)

Perhaps more people are dropping dead with Swine Flu than we originally thought?

Saying that, my OH suffered a family bereavement yesterday, so his ebay account will suffer whilst he trecks off to far flung places for the funeral... so maybe some excuses are genuine??

(shame on anyone who falsely uses the bereavement excuse!!)

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Read through a friends neg feedback only two but one complaint about late sending. Friends reply was to say her Dad had died. Er no he hadnt  and she goes on about being honest , I guess she sees it as a white lie but I dont. Whats wrong with " Sorry I screwed up been super busy Ill post it ASAP"?

I've had to chase a couple of sellers recently, and as for buyers I've got two now that haven't paid for nearly a week; no contact and no apologies - not even outlandish excuses.
I've bought and sold on Ebay for years and this is the first time I've had any hassle.
What is wrong with people?

I sincerely hope people wont use bereavement as an excuse for lack of service..it would be an utter shame

I've recently closed a non-payment dispute and issued a strike on a buyer who had been happily bidding on items the whoel time the dispute was open.

Within 5 minutes of issuing the strike, I had a message calling me "an insensitive and callous pig" for issuing a strike whilst she "was deeply affected and mourning the loss of her younger brother"

My reply was a rather curt "I apologise if I was insensitive, but by virtue of the fact you were buying lingerie, "battery operated massagers" and comedy DVD's, I would not have thought you were mourning that much".

I love the facilty to search by bidder...

I must be a curse on people then as this isnt the first time I had such an excuse!
A month or so back I had a buyer who didnt pay & only contacted me after the NPB to say her husband was in intensive care & thats why she hadnt paid. She didnt think that I had already checked her feedback & she had been bidding & paying for things in the mean time, just didnt pay for mine some reason.
I do feel bad that I dont believe these people, but it seems unlikely that I happened to buy off 2 seperate people who have suddenly experienced berevements. Its so annoying & they should just admit that they havent posted it yet & apologise. That way I can save my sympathy to those who really need it like Pinkshoes' OH.

When you become a regular seller, virtually every excuse relates to a death, illness, child bid on the item, bid by mistake etc.

Which is why I issue a strike every time. I have no way of knowing, or even caring, if they are telling the truth, Sadly too many time-wasting chav scutters seem to think the death/illness card is fair play for non-payment, when all it does is make things harder for the small minority of people that do have personal problems.

Still, if they can take the time to respond to a dispute with a sob story, they could quite as easily send across a paypal payment.
