Claiming from MIB
Looking for someone who has already claim throught them to advise me if I going the right way.
We had an bad accident last year which put me, my wife and my son in hospital a car had swerved in front of us which forced us off road and the car to flip several times. The police were at the seen as they had pulled someone over (I think the other driver was looking at that rather than the road) I don't remember much from the accident but the driver behind me helped alot and he told the police that the other driver did stop but as soon as the police officer came running to our car they drove off. (no one there got the regristation details).
Our insurance company was good and paid out on the car, but we lost our excess and 5 years no claims bonus. A police officer who was dealing with the case advised us to claim through the MIB for our personal injuries as they were quite bad. I have put all the claims in and so far the MIB have all documentation needed i.e police statements, insurance investigations, hospital records and are going to review the case next week.
Has anyone been throught this and got awarded? I was looking for a similar case as the accident put us behind some payments and we've been trying to clear the debt since then but with no luck.
Our injuries:
Me: concussion, bruses and mucusle damage in the legs, damage to lower back (still in physio for this) Hospital stay one night - doctors for 8 months still in physo
Wife: Broken pelvis, hematoma on the leg (still visible) various cuts and bruses.
Hospital stay Two weeks
Son: torn ligiments in left arm severe cuts to left arm (56 stiches) punchered kidney, and minor cuts and bruses.
Hospital stay one week, two operations on left arm and will be scar'd for life
We all still have nightmares about this, my wife was pertcular affected as she wouldn;t get in a car for months, and it took me 6 monuths to get behind the wheel again.
Any advise would be appricated Thank you

I claimed through MIB around 2002 (I was 3PFT so nothing for me on my insurance). I got injuries only from MIB nothing for the car. I needed a medical from an MIB doctor (not my regualr GP but in my area). It took about 4 months from start to finish. I got £2800 for a broken wrist, cracked ribs and substantial torso bruising. It was a failed to stop also (with witnesses)0

Your claim cannot and should not be processed until you have finished your physio. How do you know the extent of your injuries if you haven't finished your treatment?
Any settlement will be full and final. So be very careful, what if you were to suffer a relapse or the physio decide he can do no more for you and you require an operation?
If the claim has already been paid it has been finalised by the MIB and you can't go back to them.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
