what are the best cards to use in USA without having to pay for cash withdrawls if you need cash in a hurry. Would it be better to exchange your money here and transfer the dollars into the cash card to use in the USA

The basic Nationwide Flex Account cash card (Cirrus) has no fees or commission and will give far better exchange rates than exchanging money here first.0

No. Initially, only Visa debit card transactions will have a fee applied. Your cash card is run by a different provider and is only available for withdrawing cash (it does not have facilities to make purchases online or at retailers). Our Cash Card Account is our Basic Bank Account and is available/suitable for customers who meet the Basic Bank Account criteria.

Hi folks, I would be grateful for a bit advice regarding credit card use in the states. When a purchase has been made how does the credit card company determine the exchange rate i believe that either mastercard or visa determine the daily rate but the credit card companies do not have to adhere to it. Also when a purchase has been made with your credit card does the credit card company have to display the exchange rate in your monthly statements?
the reason i ask is my M&S credit card seem to have used lower exchange rate than the exchange rate on the day of the transaction. the 2.75% is included in the amount and not shown as a charge, and the currency rate is not shown .
Any advice would be appreciated. :beer:0 -
dmg24: the link you have attached for Nationwide refers to credit and debit cards, the card King of Fools refers to is simply a cash card and can be used anywhere( UK or abroad) and Nationwide confirm there is no fee at all for any transactions withdrawing on this but obviously you need the money in the account to draw on it first.
Gruffalo: I have always used NW credit cards in the US( not this year though) and the rate has always been shown against the transaction, can't say how others operate. I have always thought the NW paid very good rates which may have just been the going rate that day but I am talking about when I was getting $2 to the £.0
