DELL Returns?

Could somebody tell me if you can return DELL pc's free within a certain time period simply because you are not happy with it?
I have read on here that you can, and I think it was 14 days, but I would really appreciate confirmation off this and if possible a link to it in writing on the DELL website.

If you're not happy with it, have you asked Dell to look into the problem?
I can't see anything in their T&Cs about returns for this reason.. I would call them and ask.
I'd find it unlikely though, as I don't believe their products are sent 'on approval'. Your only chance may be if it was bought on credit, you may have a 'cooling off period'.0 -
Distance Selling Regulations give an assesment/cooling off period of 7 working days from receipt of goods.

From the Dell site under terms and conditions:Consumer Rights
If you are a Consumer you may cancel your purchase at any time within 7 working days of receipt without cause and receive a refund of the Price paid. To do this you must inform Dell in writing and return the products immediately, in the same condition you received them and at your own cost and risk. Any statutory Consumer rights are unaffected by this Agreement. This does not apply to any business customer or user. They promised the earth...and delivered mud. Technically though it did meet the spec.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I asked not because I have a Dell, but because I was thinking about buying one of their current offers for a friend who is not sure what he wants as yet.
I have seen the 7 day piece but I would have to cover the return costs, any idea how much?0 -
Yes, within 7 days and insist on getting a return reference number from them in writing. If your friend wants to return it s/he must write to Dell and get a written acknowledgement with this cancellation/refund no. Email to/from the relevant person at Customer Care is fine. As for the cost of return: imo it depends on why you are not happy; if it is a technical problem on a new system that they can't sort out on the phone they are quite likely to fetch it with no charge. But don't quote me: you have to ask nicely for this otherwise they hit you for about 45 quid for the courier. Discretionary. If you are getting no joy from the first customer care person about this, ring back and see if the next one is more helpful.
When the courier comes, make sure he has his paperwork including your return and ref number and write it on the box as well just to be sure. If you are buying on credit, your refund will probably take longer.0 -

Wouldn't it be better to just wait until your friend has decided what he wants the pc for. I think it would save a lot of messing about in the long run.
The Dell 1100, 3100 are fine for browsing internet/burning cd/dvds and typing documents.
The 5150, 9150 are faster processors, and have a slot for a graphic card, better for gaming.
Hope this helps0
