Although thinking about it... if DVD43 removes region encoding on the DISC then it wouldn't make a difference, as the discs aren't the (apparent) problem...

The discs played in normal home player once that had been unlocked, so they're okay.

Clearly 'someone' has changed the region coding a few times already. Id guess you have a region 1 disc somewhere and dont even realise it

I guess DVD43 doesn't work since all it does is remove region-restrictions on the fly. If the DVD isn't locked to a particular region, there's nothing to remove...

Ah well, at least good ol' VLC works!
