Trojan Removal

Hi folks, ages since I have been on the site - I hope someone can help! My son has a laptop and seems to have picked up a trojan - Ntoskrnl. One effect of the trojan is that he can't connect to the internet, so fixing it is problematic. The Free trial Macafee on the laptop says it is fixing it, but it is still there when he restarts. We downloaded a fix from "Geekstogo" and used a memory stick, but again that didn't work.

Can anyone help??

Cheers in anticipation

first off - mcafee is worse than useless, a trial of kaspersky is more likely to fix it.

secondly - ntoskrnl.exe is a very important file (you won't be able to use windows if its damaged/removed/deleted).

also, the memory stick may now be infected if the trojan has copied itself over to it
  • crisis now solved - has to download recovery programme as operating system had been wiped.

    All's well that ends!
