OP-do you know the make and model of boiler? If the pilot light issue was sorted, would you be alright? Old doesnt mean useless otherwise we'd all be knackered!

    Incorrect information

Yes a good quality pump like stuart turner will give you better flow

    £70 to fit????????????

The pump needs a seperate supply from the header tank and from the cylinder with the use of a surrey flange

The water tank needs to be atleast 50 gallons aswell otherwise you run the risk of running the pump dry

Finally the electrics need to be on a rcd protected circuit

    £70 wouldnt cover material....

What - it wouldn't cost £70 for no materials and under an hours work?? I paid £90 for a competent, reliable, plumber with 40 years experience to fit a 3 Bar Stuart Turner pump to my hot water cylinder and a new Bristan high pressure kitchen tap. Took him maybe just over 1 hour. This included all necessary parts and I was very happy with the service and end result.

My "guestimation" was based on just fitting a pump to the hot water cylinder.

Couldn't care less what you think - you are obviously a conman cowboy... please advertise you services if you are charging £70... just for parts!!! LOL

Even the cheapest of boilers such as a a ideal mini are quiet when fitted correctly

Any noise vibrations are caused by water hammer, caused mainly by poor workmanship....If tradesmen would only use a few more pipe clips

It isn't pipe clips - it is the fact we have microbore pipes running through the floor / ceiling - that cause the problems and noise. Tripling the water going through tiny pipes is obviously gonna cause a hellava lot of noise!

Thanks for your reply - but that is not the problem in a lot of purpose builds!!

    Cheers

    10m 15mm copper tube £15

I had a new combi boiler fitted three months ago and my existing pipework is microbore.

When the boiler is on I cannot hear it and the only way I know it is working is either when I turn on a tap and I get hot water or when the radiators get hot, you have got me worried now there must be something wrong with my system as there is no noise.
