P11D when changed employer

Hi,
Hoping some of you experts can answer my question regarding P11D. I am currently completing my self assessment form having changed employer in Sept '08. My previous role I received private medical insurance, but don't with my current employer.
What I am wondering is will I receive a P11D from my previous employer and if so how will the medical insurance cost be handled? Will it be pro-rota'd for the time I was employed by them, i.e 6 months for 08/09 tax year.
I don't receive any P11D benefits from my current employer so not anticipating receiving a form.
Am I best contacting my old employer or the tax office to find out how I should complete this box on my self assessment form?
Typical being mega organised this year and completing the form early and come to a blocker, as its the only item I am missing to have completed it.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Kerry.

You wont receive the P11d automatically - you need to write to your old employer and they are obliged to provide one withn 30 days. My understanding is that medical insuranc premiums are an annual payment, so if they paid yur premium before you left, you will be assessable on that annual premum, but wait and see what you get.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Much more likely is that the benefit will be prorated, so you should only pay tax (and the company will only pay Class 1A NIC) on the amount up until your date of departure (or the end of that month).
Good luck!0 -
Kegs (or anyone else who knows the answer)
Did you ever find out the answer to this one?
In my case I was with one employer for the first 2 months of the year, and another employer for 9 months of the year. The first employer submitted P11d forms to HMRC showing the full cost of a year's worth of medical insurance. The second submitted a P11d showing the cost for 9 months worth of medical insurance.
Surely I can't be taxed on medical insurance at the same time from two different employers (and as it happens, with the same insurance provider!)?0 -
Yes you can.....
Some employers pay an annual policy so that is the taxable benefit, others pay the policy monthly so would only be x/12ths if you leave during the tax year.0
