Feeding two Chinese boys

I'm guardian to two Chinese boys from Hong Kong. They have asked me if I can cook them "English" food and apart from the obvious roast dinner, I'm struggling for ideas!
I've spent a lot of time cooking what I thought was pretty good Chinese food so they're obviously not impressed with my efforts!
I don't have a lot of money to spend and they tell me they are sick of being served potatoes at school so that limits me a bit as well. They do seem to like pasta.
They are coming to me this bank holiday weekend so I have 4 evening meals to cook.
Any help much appreciated!

You should have a look at what is in your cupboards, freezer etc and then try to work out what dishes to make from what you already have. That should save you some money.
There is lots of different types of pasta dishes you could make.
You could make them pizzas, get them to help you with it.
Sausage and chips, or similar.
Shepherd's pie, cottage pie, toad in the hole.0 -
Hi
How old are they ? Do they have fairly cosmopolitan tastes ?
I'd suggest things like
Fish & Chips take away(as a treat and break from cooking), lasagne,
spag bol,
toad in the hole,
bangers & mash
egg & chips
fish fingers & beans
Homemade Pizza's - they could make their own & choose their own toppings
BBQ
Good Luck !

Toad in the Hole
Cornish Pasty
Cauliflower Cheese
Haggis
Scotch Eggs
It's tough if they're fed up with potatoes though - that is our national staple

Funny that... "please cook us English food but not potatoes"
Do they know that spuds are our staple carb? The equivalent of their rice or noodles say?!
Adding to the above excellent ideas... How about meat and two veg but replace the spuds with cous cous instead?0 -
