Hi,
I would really like sat nav for my bike but i refuse to pay £400 for the tomtom rider or garmin nuvo - completely over the top prices imho.
So I have two options - either use a cheaper sat nav system - tomtom one perhaps - with handlebar mounts ( about £35 for the mounts ) or as I am also in the market for a phone - get a phone with gps? - and use handle bar mounts with this.
Has anybody any experience with mobile phone gps? - how much stick does it give the battery? - are poi's available especially the dreaded speed cameras - and no I dont condone speeding but its getting ridiculous here in Lincs.
Any advice greatly appreciated as I know nothing about mobile phones but have finally succumbed to the necessity.
Cheers
Gary.

Personally I've not tried GPS on a mobile, but a relative has one and says that it roughly halves the battery life.
TBH, the bigger problem is probably going to be moisture, which mobile phones really don't like. Even tucked away under a fairing it's surely not going to stay dry in a heavy shower?
Here's a good forum on GPS and biking where you'll almost certainly get good advice:

Thanks - I'm off for a look now.0
