Advice DLA Renewal

Hello Everyone,

I have received my DLA Renewal forms, when I applied previously I was refused and had to eventually go to an appeal which for me was very harrowing. Should I send in an additional letter from my GP, CPN and Consultant to support my renewal or should I just fill in the form as requested.

thanks

Send as much supporting evidence as you can. Ask for your last dla forms as you will need to use them for guidance. The dla look at your previouse forms to compare with your new form.
Join benefits and work as they have really good up to date advice and guidance on filling the forms in.

Send as much as possible. Copies of any medical letters are good. I had a statement by 2 friends (both proffessionals anyway) hospital letters and even photo's of medical equipment and drugs. I doubt the photo's would do a lot but it does add to the evidence and adds a visual impact too. Somehow a picture can help things to stand out and become real so whatever you can do to add to the overall picture can only help your claim.

Thank you for your advice, it is always helpful to get other people's opinion as I wasn't very sure and don't want to go through what I had to endure before in front of a panel answering questions.

    thanks

My mother is disabled and she had to renew every year until I investigated into her illness a little further. It came to light that her illness is permanent and can't be reversed, so I wrote a polite letter to the DLA board asking if her new claim would take this on board. Thankfully, the board agreed on her illness and now she doesn't have to renew every year.

Small things like that can make a difference, so it's very important to include every little point in your claim form and back the point up with as much evidence as possible. Quoting the DLA rules, brouchers is usually a good idea when making a point.

    Good luck!
