Oh, Newcastle is not quite around the corner is it?

Just noticed that you asked about further pots on your boxes. Why not? You can go as high as you like, as long as each level has enough compost at the edge for the plants and each level allows the water through (including the bottom one).

no but I am originally from Consett! My whole family still live "Up North"

With ref to the strawbs how many would you plant round the edge - or how close together would you put them. I am getting quite excited about all this now - even if it is just strawberries...

I am also planting some peppers in my conservatory this year and I am looking at trying to get a tray to put the grow bag onto to collect excess water and soil. Any suggestions? £5.99 from the garden centre per tray!

    Thanks again

Mummy Jo, I've just bought some trays from B&M, £1 each.
Not tried them yet with a gro bag, but am sure they are the right size.

    Hello

I asked on freecycle for a old wheelbarrow for my strawberries...

  • These are pop-up waste bins from poundland. They are approx 45cm high and 30cm accross.

I use them for new potatoes but will be buying some more to plant strawberries in.
This is how i am going to do it. Cut the bottom of a plastc drink bottle and make loads of holes in along the sides. Place upside down in the middle of the poundland bins and fill around the edges with compost. Make some planting holes around the sides and plant the strawberries (remember to put drainage holes in the base). To water just pour water into the drinks bottle.
