hi guys, im looking for some advice with my car insurance brokers, im at the end of my tether and feel like canceling but dont know what to do, il try to explain, ive been with them a few years and had problems but im sure they lie to the insurance companies to get me a cheap quote, several times over the years when i get my policy it sais for example car is garaged or has an alarm or only do 1000 miles a year when ive never stated these things, im honest and tell the truth, but the latest has really peed me off. i was insured on a saab estate but sold it and bought a subaru impreza, so obviously i new this would be a lot more to insure and it was. anyway i paid in full on a credit card 1 month ago and got my policy{more lies regarding security} and my no claims arnt protected which i asked for! i rang them and they said i didnt want ncp which i did ask for and quoted me another £200 for ncd, i said no. today i got a letter from the finance dept saying i owe more money! i rang to ask why and was told the company i had the saab with wont give them my money back so i have to pay, they said its because i had a claim on another car with the said company, its true but was 8 years ago and they asked me about the last 5 years? so what does 8 years ago matter?? anyway i rang back and they said its not to do with the claim 8 years ago?? but i was mis quoted by the sales team?? and still need to pay.. honest i really carnt take anymore i feel i need to sell my beloved car and cancel my policy but i get the feeling even if i did i wont see any of my £1000 or so they have had off me in the last few months, lucky for them they are hundreds of miles away i really want to hurt someone, i feel im been taken for a ride, ive always felt good in myself for being an honest person but im questioning if its worth it, can anyone advise me what to do?? other thing is i carnt afford to pay more i saved long and hard for my car and extra for the high insurance but with the lies etc im quite sure if anything happened my policy would be worthless??? advice much appreciated...thx

next time, dont go through a broker, do it yourself and then you know exactly what you have asked for.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It sounds like there could be a number of errors and omissions here resulting in instances of breaches of agency and good faith here on behalf of the broker and basic errors in advice and accounting. I say could, each case turns on the details.
First, take a step back and stay calm. Break each issue down and separate it out. Find each bit of evidence you can for each problem you have had.
Write a formal letter of complaint setting out clearly and calmly, with details, exactly what problems you have had in date order for each policy separatly. Be clear about what you expect the resolution to be (appology, refund etc as you feel is correct). Address this to the complaints department and the chief executive, director or the partners.
They should follow standard proceedures and should you not be satisfied can take the case to the FOS.

Other than that, yes, take your business elsewhere.
Clearly one of the above is nothing but spam so ignore them. I also disagree, there are plenty of great brokers out there who can be excellent when you have a specialist car like a hot Subaru0 -
Good post Dogbot but i was trying to be helpful for next time, i too have had troubel with brokers and would not touch them with a bargepole in future.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

thanks for the advice, tbh im well past anything other than wanting my money back or whatever im owed?? 11 months left? only problem or reason i havent canceled it already is i cannot afford to buy insurance elsewhere while i wait for a refund, could take a while knowing them, just checked through my insurance policy which ive had with them over the last couple of years about 5 in total and they are full of lies and stuff to make the quote cheaper, so ive been driving around for a couple of years in a tens of thousands of pounds car which i guess i would of kissed good bye to in the event of an accident, not to mention other peoples safety and the fact that it would of been me who looked like the liar if anything happened just makes me very angry indeed.0
