Why save with the Co-op ?

Most of the Co-Op's ethical commitments are either faddish or downright fraudulent.
Can you give any examples of commitments which are "downright fraudulent"?"The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0 -
I have been with coop for 30 years now, which includes changing to smile when smile started. The bank itself gives superb service and any query I have ever had has been dealt with, efficiently and politely. The internet site is very easy to work around and I log on every day to check that transactions are ok. The interest rate has been falling like a stone so I obviously move my money out asap. I use the current account as a bank and the savings account as my feeder money and everything else goes elsewhere
I recently bought some pref shares in the coop for my dh`s sipp and they yield approx 8.2%. Divi dates may and november. A good little earner and a nice safe bank

Is it as safe now that it's taken on the Britannia's loan-book and wholesale funding requirements?0

I am a customer of many years too. They are well known for having the best rate ISA at one time and then dropping the rate suddenly after they had gathered in a lot of savers. Financial advisers still mention this. These days I use them only for paying a few bills and transferring money. My savings are elsewhere.0
