Share Dividend Question

Options
Hi all,

Just a quick question. How do I find out what dividend a company pays to its shareholders? Is there a central location that reports this information?

Cheers
Bob

Are you looking at a company in particular? Most share information site has the information.

Example. Vodafones dividend yield was 6.15%.
  • Cheers for the link, I'll have a look in a min.

I'm not looking for any company in particular, but I'm starting out in share dealing and one of the things I was looking to take into consideration before buying was what dividend a company pays.

Since there's no guarantee a company I'm thinking of investing in would be in an abridged list I was hoping there might be a definitive list of all floated companies.

If you go to Digitallook there is a stock screener ( under the Investment tab ) which allows you to select stocks for, among other things, yield.

Ok well I am assuming English companies here.

You have the FTSE 100, FTSE-250, FTSE-350 and FTSE-All Share

The 100 is top 100 companies 250 top 250 companies and so forth. All-Share is all the public limited companies.

Usually there is less risk in FTSE-100 (not no risk, look at the banks!) because they are big established companies, whereas those in 350 are smaller ones so more likely to fail - but if they suceed they usually bring in more money.

    List of companies there.

Its usually good to think of where you want to buy shares in, Airlines? Telecommunciations etc? If you go out and buy the FT and look at the share section there you can see a list of all the companies you can invest in in their sectors.
