BT price rise issue
Hi,
I am a newbie on this board altho have been a watcher of this board for sometime now. I have been battling with an issue recently and thought i should put it out for everyone to discuss.
Considering that most providers take a estimated usage charge every month, what happens when a price hike happens e,g in case of BT on 1st Mar. Does whatever is between their reading and actual get charged on the new rate ? I don't think they took any readings in feb to charge people their actual usage before the hike comes into place.
Our actual reading is way-way beyond what is in the last bill, and all this usage altho done during the pre-hiked rate will be charged at the increased rate ?

I assume that you are referring to the BG rises from the 1st March. Why didn't you simply provide your own customer reading on the 1st March, what could be simpler if you don't want to be overcharged? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

They work it out on a pro rata basis, so you will be charged an average reading, if I were you i would ring in and give them your meter reading.Pawpurrs x0

I have done. We called up on 1st march and gave them the reading but got no response. Called up again on the 9th mar to figure out what is going on and were told that there is no note of our call on the 1st and they do not have any such process in place. They will send someone to get our reading (if we insist) on the 18th Mar but will be charged the increased rate.
Pls note that our gap reading is costing us upwards of £1000 with the old rate hence a big difference in amount if calculated with the new one.0
