cost to get dog neutered?

  • Kids knickers can be a really good fit - pick the size according to the size of the dog. I used toddler's training knickers on my terrier, with a hole for the tail. Although they were a bit on the large size they were the smallest I could find. The dog didn't mind a bit.

I have just had my !!!!! spayed and with the lampshade thing it was £173.00 i think the lampshade thing was £4.50 but they said if you dont use it, they would refund that.

Do different dogs need those lamp shade things? Our little scottie didn't (but I'm not sure they make the lamp shades that small ;)) ... but I think, including an overnight stay, we paid a lot less than £173.00 ....

I paid £121 to have my tiny Cavalier King Charles pup spayed and chipped. Apparently they charge for the anaesthetic by the weight of the dog. I am glad Millie was only 3.5kg as it might have been a lot more expensive than it was.

There was a TV advert in Northern Ireland wher you can get your dog neutered free if you are on the dole ... what will they spend my money on next !!!!

    The next Council banquet probably.

What's the alternative? Have a dog put down because someone's on the dole?

:hello: In our area (midlands) an average is about £80 for castration and £120 for spaying. The difference is because when a dog is castrated they literally snip the relevant bits off but when a b!tch is spayed they're actually doing invasive surgery, opening her up to get to the relevant bits and also the size of the animal is relevant to the amount of anaesthetic/drugs they need.

It is worth having your dog castrated for the health benefits later on in his life. Alot of older dogs are prone to testicular cancer which he wouldn't get (obviously :rotfl: ) and also he'll be less prone to things like prostate problems.
