they are usually £4.12 but on special offer now @ £2

they are not 'large' but still good value for a cooked chuck

I got one today for £2 and yes they are small but my dog loves me twice as much tonight.

I hate to think what standards the birds are kept in BUT maybe you could write to Tesco and ask for documentation on how their birds are kept.

Large chickens still on offer for £2.00

I got one today & for the price they are very good value.

I did notice in my local Tesco, they are not really promoting them as they usually do when they have offers???

I got one in for my OH to pick at & my dog gets some, so I please both for £2.00!

I cant afford free range chicken, so choose to buy none at all rather than battery farmed.
The "large" rotisserie chickens probably did look large compared to some of the malnourished specimens that they were stood next to in the cages: you know the ones... tesco label them as "standard" size.
  • I got one last night - not large but enough for tea and lunch today.

No not free range. I buy free range when I can but can't always afford to.

Interestingly in our local shop (Can't remember if Londis/spar etc) free range eggs are CHEAPER than caged. This is the way to go for supermarkets - make people make the right choices.

I have never bought one before and agree they are not very big - but lovely tasting!

    Thanks to OP.

They were promoting them in my nearest store, sign at the door and signs on the hot cabinet. I got one on Wednesday and will get one again for the w/end, I too wouldn't call them exactly large but enough to do a couple of dishes.

The offer runs until 3 May. However, I was told by the 'chicken lady' today that she couldn't cook them fast enough for the customers and that she couldn't understand why HQ had cut her Managers order for today down from 300 odd to just 210 ! She was cooking her last 2 ovens full at 1pm today and didn't have any more stock. She didn't know what would happen tomoorow and Sunday - probably lots of irate customers who can't get the deal!
