Lewisham/South East London to Heathrow, nightmare!!

Hi,
I am travelling soon to Heathrow, an airport I tend to avoid as it is a nightmare and far to get to from Lewisham or South East London.

By car, it's loads of traffic, plus a 50 quid fare if you get a cab.

Public transport: a good 2 hours, getting the train to London Bridge, the Jubilee line to Green Park and from there chane to Picadilly Line all the way to Heathrow. With lugage and or kids it's a nightmare.

Would anyone know by coach/public transport/cab a shorter/quicker route, less expensive or one with not many changes from Lewisham to Heathrow??

Many thanks, I hate that airport

I used to commute from Welling to Heathrow every day and found that via public transport the easiest way was train to Waterloo East, walk over to Waterloo and take train to Feltham. Then bus 285 from Feltham station to Heathrow Central. If I remember correctly it was quicker than the tube option if I got a fast train to Feltham. It was certainly easier than the tube.

I find it can be very quick by car as long as you are not travelling in the rush hour
    I think....
