If i remember correctly, years ago £5 notes were given as standard from all cash machines, not sure why it was stopped.

My local Barclays bank only dispenses £5 notes from the machine inside the bank. The hole-in-the-wall outside is minimum £10 notes. Lord knows why .

there used to be shortages of £5s i think.the banks stopped them becuase they could load less money in with them

Sometimes, i only want to withdraw £5 but if they only offer £10 i end up spending £10 unnecessarily :rolleyes:
