Hi all,

I'd dearly love to sign up to the May £10 a day challenge but haven't a clue how to make £10 a day (or even £5)?

Here are my issues and yes I am a rotten pessimistic old wotsit, glass half empty etc which is why I'm hoping for some help to get me to see the light of what I could do! Please, please.:o

I'm not eligible for overtime, work too long hours and lots of commuting for a second job.
My time online from end of May will be restricted to lunchtime use only as won't have a pc at home !!
I do the odd survey which hasn't yet mounted up anywhere enough to withdraw, quidco usage is at bare minimum as don't have any spends. I am a member of Pinecone, so that's about £3 a month as not many surveys but to be fair my food budget is so small I usually put that towards my tesco shop.
Outgoings are stripped as bare as could be and don't buy coffee/ food at work.

The only thing I can do outside work is write cvs for people. I tried leafletting but got no response, not techie enough to have a website, though have an office live one I don't really understand how to set up! I suppose the google adsense thing would be a good idea but I really have no clue how to set up that either, and can't afford ANY set up costs.

I have about 45k to pay off, and anything at all I can overpay would be just marvellous. Being in debt is so stressful and with the little I pay they hardly seem to go down.

Anyway I think that's me out of excuses - please help me get more positive and find things I CAN do.

Plus I thought it might be handy for others in a similar situation. The challenge threads are so inspirational but also now they're on such a scale it's a bit intimidating - I feel very much on the outside and would love to take part and benefit too.

I should add I'll be doing a bootsale shortly, so fingers crossed for that and I find ebaying clothes and bits and bobs costs me more than I make out of it, plus the hassle that goes with it - I'm not keen but open to suggestions and changing my mind - I promise!

Many thanks,
pippitypip.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here! :D

I think the trick is to read these threads for inspiration and then set yourself a smaller challenge (or even start a thread that we can all join!). For example, I was looking at the 10 ebay items a day thread as I love ebaying, but there is no way I could list 10 items a day. I don't get home from work until 7pm and it took me an entire hour to pack three delicate items the other night. If I listed 10 a day I wouldn't even have time to eat dinner! So I then set myself a smaller challenge of selling x items per week.

Could you do something similar? Maybe start off by making £3 a day or selling a few items per week? I agree it is hard to find money-making ventures outside work especially if you are not already skilled at those things. Is there something else you could do at work? A former colleague of mine used to bring in home-made cakes which she would sell in the staff room. A colleague where I work at the moment brings in handmade cards and jewellery to sell.

    Thanks cally and Hermia.

I'll take a look at the survey challenge thread this evening. Just got a mindmover survey for £1.50 I didn't qualify for grrr

I don't play computer games and so many surveys are for that I always fail to qualify!

Hermia - the 10 a day terrifies me - where do people find 10 items to list a day - I mean I have a lot of crap but it takes so long to describe everything and last time I listed 10 items took me hours and only 5 sold, even with 99p starting. I actually made so little it just wasn't worth it - esp with fees etc.

I have to stop hoping for much for the bootsale - don't want to be too dissappointed!

I'm the founding member of the 10-a-day eBay listing marathon and to be honest most of us don't manage it...in fact we are lucky if we manage 10 a week. :rotfl:

The important thing is to set yourself a challenge which is realistic to you so if you pop over to my thread you'll see that people have all sorts of targets. I also list on Amazon and Greenmetropolis. The most important thing is starting somewhere. In terms of having enough stuff to list...you probably have. I have lots of old magazines and list them with the celebrities name in the title - they sell. Magazines can be listed quickly as you can use a copy of the original listing and change some words.

Perhaps you could start with scratchcards (sorry I'm useless at putting threads up) - the small amounts soon add up and I even had a £25 win once! Top up with eBay and the other sites and keep reading the threads to get inspiration of what else to do.

There are plenty of things that you could do but you have to open your mind to actually doing them.

    Good luck!
