Connecting I-Pod to Car Radio

Just treating ourselves to a new car, and the only disappointment is there is no jack plug on the radio for the mp3/ipod. We have one of the fm radio connectors, but when travelling over distances you keep having to find a channel with no radio broadcast on it, and I would not call the sound "clear and clean" IYKWIM. The dealer looked at putting one in for us, but due to it being a "singing & dancing" radio with mp3 playback, cd changer and steering wheel controls and bluetooth, there were no sockets left to connect to at the back of the radio (that is what they told me).

Is there a bluetooth connection for an i-pod and are they any good? Or as my fm connector is one of the early ones, would a new one be better.

I accept I am being greedy wanting everything, but one has to try!

No sure whether this is correct here or on the Techie thread, but just let me know.

Thanks - DG

do you really need the cd changer?
if you have an ipod then put all the albums on the ipod, thus freeing up an input in the back of the stereo. you might find you still need to buy an additional interface to give full use of the ipod through the stereo controls (keeping you leegal and all that)
i use an aux plug in my van and car to connect my ipod up,the cars is in an aftermarket stereo, but the van came with it fitted, you need to touch the ipod though to chnage songs etc.. though.

get the cd changer out, sell it on ebay to fund an interface for your ipod.

    what car is it?

Do a serach for Dension Gateway - I had one fitted to my Corolla for about £120. They do them for all sorts of cars.

It's well hidden in the car and controlled by the steering wheel controls, track info etc. comes up on the head unit.

Much better than one of the FM transmitters which I tried before.

Sorry I obviously did not make my OP clear.

This is a brand new vehicle with radio controls/bluetooth controls on the steering wheel already.

I was looking for a simple inexpensive way of using my ipod via the radio.

something like this? edited here for this http://densionice.co.uk/DensionGateway300.aspx
i know its a brand new car by reading your op.
if i had a brand new car i would prefer a profesional instal like this rather than a crackly fm transmitter that doesnt carry the sound quality or volume.

as i said, do away with the cd multi changer and plug this into the socket that the cd changer goes into in the back of the stereo.
sell the brand new multi changer on ebay and recover some of your expense for this little gem. ;)
