Printer recommendation please

Could anyone recommend a laser printer for the small charity I work for? We have an all-in-one machine (around £40 from Argos) that is beginning to collapse and doesn't produce the quality or the quantity we now require. I've seen printers in the Viking catalogue for up to around £500 but have no idea how to choose between them. Can anyone give a personal recommendation or even tell me which products/manufacturers to avoid?

Most of the work I do would be in black and white but need the facility to do colour as and when. I also photocopy/scan books so the lid needs to give this flexibility - I've broken the lid of the current one by doing this!! Much of it is also text but occasionally need to copy detailed handrawn charts and drawings so need the facility to do high quality stuff now and then.

Many thanks

    Well 3 bits of advice....

    a) Have a look here,...
    http://www.ebuyer.com/search?limit=50&store=77&cat=13&subcat=2265&sort=pricelow&page=1
    - they start at £86:96.
    b) Beware the costs of toner cartridges - figure out how much you will use & work out running costs for a year. (or 3 or 5 years).
    c) Whatever you do DON'T EXPECT THE PRINTER TO WORK ALL THE TIME. (Apologies 4 shouting). They are fiddly, mechanical, things with things moving through them used by all-sorts of people... I ALWAYS advise any charity of business to have at least 2 printers - so keep the old one or buy another cheapo for when your new main one goes wrong. Re. inkjet I always buy Epson: Much cheaper ink! (You'll now tell me yours is Epson).

    Cheers!

Haha, yes actually it is. I've found it far cheaper to get ink from Tesco or wherever than somewhere like Viking. Does the cheaper ink principle also apply to toners? If so, that helps me to decide on make anyway.

Thanks for the advice and the link. I'll check it out.

I'm a big fan of HP. I've had several and they just go on and on... Some of the others can't grab the paper after a while.
