We have to update our kitchen, it's about 14 years old now and our old New World range cooker has finally stopped working , well one oven has and the other has it's temp way off, have to wind it to full to get it up near 220-230 (hottest it will go).
So we decided to look for ovens first the plan the kitchen round that, after looking at built in double ovens we have decided to go back to a range, a friend can get us a discount from Magnet appliencies, we picked a Rangemaster Toledo 110 he can get for about 1200, is this good?
we priced up the Magenet cabinets and thats really expensive 13k inc Corian worktops! There must be a cheaper place for Corian..
But we recently saw online that Ikea do a range cooker for £699! it seems to be made by Whirlpool, who I thought were a pretty good manufacturer in the US, were going to have a look at it today, only thing is I think it's Matt Black..
Anybody got experience with the Ikea cooker?

The rangemasters are very good! i have not seen, used or know anyone with the Ikea one.
Sorry not to be more informative0 -
I have just put in a couple of IKEA ovens and you are right that they are Whirlpool so are of fairly good quality.
No experience of the IKEA range cooker but one thing to remember is that their appliances come with a 5 or 10 year warranty0 -
Hi, I wouldn't touch it! Whirlpool in Europe is nothing like Whirlpool in the US. Also I think it is very sad that the appliances from Ikea have 'Ikea by Whirlpool' on the front. Just my opinion. Others here would recommend the Rangemaster
, I still have my doubts but as cheap range cookers go, if you have to have one then certainly the Rangemaster is as good as any other.

Oh BTW if you are looking for a new kitchen with Corian worktops then try a local independent kitchen specialist, you will probably find they can do the Corian cheaper than Magnet, probably better units and will manage the whole job for you.
I nearly forgot to get that plug in for the independant - what was I thinking!0 -
Thansk so much for the replies, I do love this forum, so helpful.
I saw the Ikea one today and am afraid it looks quite cheap, we then went to Currys and saw loads of Ranges, a lot of the Rangmasters looked cheap too, we not too keen on the glossy black hob compared to the cast iron matt. Also chrome handles look kinda cheap compared to the brushed stainless steel. The Stoves was nice as was something called Lufa (it said top italian make) as it had a rottisari (not sure how to spell it:) and one by Leisure but them seemed the cheaper of the brands so that can't be right! I think if we can get custom options on a Rangemaster we shall get the Excell.
Yep thanks CKdesigner I think your totally right were better off with an independant kitchen specialist, I fitted our old kitchen so can do all the fitting myself getting back units from Woodfit and made my own doors, I think we shall do the same but find a supplier of the Corian.
Rather someone else do it though:) but it'l save loads if I can get it done..
Off to look up yet more cookers..0
