Can someone tell me if I am correct with this thinking.

When you buy an item from Tesco and use a coupon for that item, the reduction is shown as a voucher at the bottom of the receipt.

So if I was to get a coupon for lets say Lego (cos there is one in the lego magazine that has come through the door), and I bought the specific lego along with some other shopping and then used my coupon for a £2 discount on that lego, if I then returned the Lego to Tesco saying it was unwanted, they would then refund the full price of the item back to me, which would leave the £2 coupon as a discount on everything else I have bought.

So whilst I know some SA will take any voucher you have and are not bothered, I just thought this is a cheeky way to play the system if they only accept coupons for what you have actually bought.

Am I correct or is there something in my cunning plan that will go awry?

Use ur coupon after you've bought the lego at customer service, they will give u £1 cash for ur £1 coupon and usually won't write on ur receipt.
Go back a later date and return it ;)

May I ask what this voucher may be used against as our lads had the same free mag but it is as clear as mud what it can be used against.
    Cheers

Ok ok I'll admit to bring v v naughty
When the £5 off £25 spend on clothes was on I occasionally cough cough ahem ahem added an item of clothing in with my shop and returned it at a later date. Only once did the CS assistant say "oh was that a clothing voucher" options for response "oh yes completely forgot about that what an airhead" or "not sure I had a few different vouchers"
Most of them never really notice and if they do you've not lost anything

    Celebrate,

Did you not get rumbled returning the £20 jacket and keeping the £5 top?

The lego voucher is £2 off Hero Factory lego, whatever that is! (if we are confused so will the SA, so anything goes I reckon!)

Found this evening: Fruit bowl Tropical fruit flakes 20g, SEL 42p each, or 4 for £1. OOD Sel, offer ended 6/9/2011. Nice DTD on rather a few packets :)
