Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me how I can create a pdf document thta will pick up the background colour from word. I usually use pdfcreator, but unfortunately it doesn't produce the background colour for some reason.

Thanks!

I use PDFill (http://www.pdfill.com/pdf_tools_free.html) that should do it for you.
  • Thanks Damo. I remember trying to use pdf fill before and couldn't get it to work at all for creating pdfs, but I'll give it another go. Cheers

    Hi Damo,

I've managed to download and open the pdffill pdf editor, but can't see how to read in a word document that I want to convert to pdf format. Any pointers? Thanks.

I tried via the 'convert postscript file to pdf', but didn't have any joy:-( Even though it created a pdf it didn't pick up any background colour I had added.
  • I also tried pdf convertor which created the pdf, but didn't show the colour. It may be that its just impossible to actually bring in the background colour?

In Word, try going to "File" menu / "Page Setup" / "Paper" tab / "Print Options..." button, and tick "Background colors and images".
  • Hi Esuhl. That tab on my word doesn't have "Background colors and images" checkbox. It does have a background printing checkbox though which is already ticked. There is also a print postscript over text option.

sorry I'm blind. Just trying it now...

Actually I'm not blind. It doesn't have this checkbox on the word doc I'm trying to change, but does have it on my word on a different pc!

Hmmm... strange. It must be a different version of Word. Which version do you have? You can find out by clicking "About Microsoft Office Word" on the Help menu.
  • It says Microsoft Word 2002

It seems like this feature isn't available in Word 2002 and earlier, but there are some straightforward workarounds to achieve the same effect:
