Wrong car colour on PCN

Options
I have just received a PCN for (01) contravention

Please can someone tell me if the following information from the 'WHICH' website is correct
If the registration number or colour is recorded incorrectly, the parking ticket is invalid. However, if the parking ticket error is slight – such as the vehicle colour noted as being grey instead of silver – a parking adjudicator may decide that the details are close enough for the parking ticket to be valid.

My car is green and the colour indicated on ticket is black. But i thought this didn't make any difference and the registration details were the important factor?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Dark greens can look a bit black in low light - What were the conditions when it happened? Also some car manufacturers colour descriptions can be a bit fanciful - I have a pal who determinedly insists her VW is some kind of blue. It may say blue on the docs but it is a very, very, very greenish blue and I'd be hard-pushed to call the thing anything other than green.

But broadly yes - A serious mistake will work in your favour but a more minor one may well be considered acceptable. However that may still call the patrollers obversation into question.

There are other approaches too - Scan the ticket and remove its number and your details. See the sticky at the top of the thread. There are others here who can comment in more detail on the actual legality of it. :)

I received the notice at 7:32 this morning (bright sunshine at the time) after parking on double yellow lines at 10:30 last night due to no spaces being available near my home. I forgot to ask my partner to move it this morning as he leaves for work early, 6am!

My car is definitely green although a dark shade of green but as i said the ticket was issued in bright sunlight.

I have not problem with the circumstances, i was parked illegally although not causing an obstruction and was parked around the corner from my home, just bloody annoying i suppose and i thought that the details on ticket needed to be correct or you could challenge.

But as it is just the car colour that is incorrect not sure if it is worth it?

The colour does not even have to be on the PCN, so the fact that it's wrong does not affect the validity (obviously if it's very wrong that would put into question the CEO's observational skills).

However, there may be something wrong with the PCN or the lines on the road.

Please post up all of the PCN (front and back) and photos of the markings, and someone will be along to assist you.

That's about the best summary so far.

There are other issues. Red for Silver for instance.
Surprisingly, probably wouldn't matter. The CEO works from a drop down list on his machine - simple misshit of cursor - won't matter.

As Sarah says you are far more likely to find other stronger avenues of appeal if you do as she suggested.
