If the auction is private there is little that you can do, however if not then you can still see a bidder's history, how long they have been registered, how many bids they have placed with the seller.

I think this is limited to 90 days though. Soolin will be able to advise better.

I bought an item at the weekend and one of the other bidders had:

    No feedback
Been registered for less than a month.
Bid on two items, both with the same seller.

Make of that what you will!

Sometimes if you look through feed back sellers will have left an address like "Thankyou for buying form duffs beer shop.co.uk" you can go to the shop and look at feedback left on the same day for ones with the same score. This can be useful if you suspect shill bidding.

    i was wondering that too
  • Basically it's sellers bidding on their own items with a different account in order to push up the item's selling price.

I'm a bidder that more often than not does have an actual look at the feedback comments - not just the score.

I've occassionally seen strange comments that have made me very suspicious (i.e excellent seller and looks good in the morning too )

I was reading some feedback recently were there were three different buyers who all used same language and all used capital letters.

I also look at the items they have sold in the past, the date they end then check that with their feedback. Its surprising at how many people leave "themselves" over the top feedback same day as auction ended.

Worth just spending time looking at their feeback rather than just their score.

Don't get involved until the last minute then they can't shill bid against you. Although it hacks me off it really is not an issue unless you want to make it one.
