Virgin Flying Club

Ive never been a fan of FC. Ive always ended up redeeming my miles and still had to pay a few hundred quid in taxes etc which for some reason always tend to be higher than the taxes/fees on a normal economy ticket.
However.
When looking at using them on partner airlines the taxes fall to ridiculous amounts.
For instance, last night i found out that Tokyo - LA - Tokyo is 60,000 miles and get this - £26 taxes/fees. (Singapore Airlines)
I looked into it a bit more and it seems that most flights (even originating in the US) pay very little and nothing like we do in taxes and fees.

The same is true for most non UK redemptions on many frequent flyer programs. If VS are only charging £26 on that routing, then it looks like they are not passing on any of the YQ fuel surcharge either.0

Stupid question...do you get taxed on Flight upgrades with Virgin?0

Yes you will pay extra. the APD for economy pax. is less than that for Premium, so if you upgrade you will be charged the extra as well as an admin charge. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
