New Seller seeking advice re: posting abroad

Hi. I've only been selling on Ebay for a couple of weeks and have been putting UK deliveries only on my goods. I have however had a query from someone from France asking how much p&p to send a DS game over there.
I don't particularly mind sending it there however was wondering how all you seasoned Ebayers would word the reply because I want to ensure that I set down specific terms in case he does not want to pay for a signed for package.
What happens if an item goes astray that is not trackable? ie, I only have a certificate of posting. When I have bid on items in the past I have been told that I will be sent the Certificate and it is then my, the Buyer's, responsibility to claim from the PO. Is this right?
Many thanks. Valx

Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Standard proof of posting will insure you for £36 (might have gone up with latest post rises) posting abroad.
It always remains the sellers responisbility to refund if the item goes missing - lots of listings say otherwise, but Paypal will always find in the buyers favour.
Sent several items to Europe and the US and never had a problem.0 -
you could say you'll only post it to france if they pay for tracked postage just to cover yourself0

Hi, the Buyer paid me immediately this morning after I replied to him. I've taken a chance as he has 100% Positive feedback over 220+ items. I've sold quite a few of my computer games on ebay, and nearly all of them have been sold to buyers in Europe- they've always paid straight away and I've never had a problem with any of them (European posting seems to be almost as fast as UK mail), so hope you don't either!0

Thanks for all your responses. The Buyer paid immediately, received the game very quickly and left me good feedback. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge.
