I recently bought a pressure washer which I intend to use to wash the car. It came with a little detergent bottle attachment. What I want to know is, can you use car wash shampoo? What is the difference or shampoo and detergent the same?

I've used car shampoo in my Karscher (spelling?) for years and it works well, far cheaper than buying their branded stuff. As Steve says they do go through a fair amount of it so I usually mix it roughly one part shampoo to 10 parts water and it does the job very well.

Apparently according to my pressure washer manual, a normal detergent may bung up the system. I suspect they want to scare people into buying their own branded detergents:confused:

If you have the soap dispenser on the end of the lance it is ok but if it is the type that draws the detergent through the pump it may block the very small valves with wax.
