Tesco photos

Just need to moan about this!
I got a £3 photoprocessing voucher from Tescos in a Baby and Toddler Club giveaway.
I don't really print off a lot of photos (as they are all over my house) but my daughter's godparents came over with their children in February and I wanted a copy of the photo we took of them all together.
As I had the voucher, I ordered 5 photos costing 75p to be printed on the way home from fetching my children on Friday - they take an hour but we couldn't wait as we had to feed the baby, so I went over this morning to fetch them and was going to get a few other bits while I was there (polyfilla, biscuits, dress for PIL anniversary party etc.).
The assistant on photos says you can't use this unless you spend £3.
I said I don't want to spend £3 only 75p - keep the rest.
The till won't accept that.
Go to customer services where the woman tells me loudly 3 times it's for photoprocessing. I say yes I can read, but I only want 5 photos.
Do you want to see the manager. Yes please.
Team leader - (Is that a manager, don't think so). Very nice lady, but still says you have to spend £3.
I say I don't want £3 worth of photos, keep the rest. Can't do that, can only £3 worth.
OK, I say, can you take the £2.25 off someone else's bill. No, we can't sell you someone else's photos.
OK, I say, please tear up the photos I will go somewhere else.
Aren't you going to pay the 75p then?
Why would I? It isn't the money, it's the fact that I've been here 20 minutes while you tell me that I can't use this "prize" you've sent me - I'll go somewhere else and instantly print the one photo I want and not go the Tescos photo processing again - or in fact buy the other things I was going to browse for because now I'm annoyed.
I know Tesco are a big store and clearly don't care about my custom - but I still feel like this is rubbish customer service?
Or am I being OTT?

Firstly in answer to your question a team leader isn't a manager.
Did the voucher say you had to spend over £3. If it did then I'm afraid theres nothing much you can really do....
Sorry but if the voucher has a spent limit then the till won't accept it which is why the assistant couldn't accept it.
I think it was a bit rude of the person on customer services to tell you loudly, they should have explained normally.

That's just it Wirm, it didn't say anything about a minimum spend - it just said "this is equivalent to processing one 24 exposure film and you can pay another £1.28 and get it processed in an hour"
So that's the clause they were trying to tell me meant that I had to spend £3!
How?MSE GBBO 2015 - Go Alvin!0 -
Couldn't you just have had £2.25 worth of photos printed and be done with it? I mean, they are free!
Don't get me wrong, I understand what you're saying, but I'd have used the whole voucher. At the end of the day, most of those free vouchers insist that you use the whole thing because they expect that most people would be happy to get £3.00 worth of whatever it is for free. If you went into Game with a £5.00 voucher and bought a PC game for £2.99 they'd say, "You've got £2.01 left to spend, do you want a mag?"
I used to work in retail in several shops. Somtimes we'd have vouchers in magazines a Christmas and people would always use the whole thing. Don't think I've come across someone who only wanted to use a small amount of one tbh!0 -
Yes I would have no problem with that except I didn't have the camera because I put them in for printing on Friday!!
I would happily have paid for someone else's photos with the rest, but they wouldn't let me.
And I could only use it for photoprocessing!
If it had said that on the voucher, then I would have just ordered another 15 and shredded them!!MSE GBBO 2015 - Go Alvin!0 -

well then if it didn't say "min spend £3" then you have every right to spend as much as you want....
I'd write to them and complain!

I think I will, that might cheer me up!!MSE GBBO 2015 - Go Alvin!0

Don't see why they couldn't have put £3 worth of prints through the till just to keep it happy and make it accept the voucher. A good cashier will know how to work around technicalities in a system (I think that was a massive chunk of my job when I worked in the Gift List department at John Lewis - making the system do things that people wanted but it wasn't designed for).0

Problem with Tesco's till and vouchers is that they are programmed to not give back change. Its the same with the clubcard vouchers, if you have a £5 voucher you need t spend £5 as the till won't accept it otherwise.
As for the point of just putting through prints and not doing them, if that was done the photo print count and till records wouldn't matchTitch0 -
I've had a similar problem with Tesco's photo processing service.
I gave Tesco a 35mm film and asked for the photos to be put onto a CD (no prints). They correctly ticked the box that says "CD Only - No Prints". It comes back with a CD and prints, and they try to charge me about £5 when it should only be £1.98 for just the CD.
When I argued they said you can't have the CD without prints. Absolute NONSENSE! The price list on the wall says "CD only - £1.98" and there's even a box they tick when you hand the film in that says "CD Only - No Prints". After much argument they finally agree to charge me only £1.98.
3 weeks later, exactly the same thing happened all over again, and I had to have the same argument with another supervisor.  :mad:0 -
Ahh the wonderful world of Tesco where their systems come before common sense and customer service...0
