I have reused packaging for years and have never had any complaints. I think the quality of the packing is more important. I'd rather receive a CD that has been carefully packed in reused packaging than just chucked into a new jiffy bag.

The only packaging materials I would avoid would be ones that might cause embarrassment (e.g. sending an item out packed in an old Tampax box for instance!)

Lol. Yes, it wasn't the recycled thing that worried me - its whether Mrs Smith minds getting her designer dress in a baby's nappy bag. I think I am being a little too cautious. :D

The reason I wanted to ask you guys is that my sister was a bitt iffy about it when I asked her - and she's really down to earth.

I'd do it, and be happy to recieve it.
Especially turned inside out, no problem and a good way to recycle.
    Good idea op!

As a private seller you can get away with sending it in anything as long as it serves the purpose and is not overpriced.

As a business seller, I think it looks unprofessional to send items in used packaging, but it's also much easier and efficient to pack items using new materials.

I do it often and never mind if i receive an item in recycled packaging as long as it is clean and undamaged. I would advertise the items with the information on you using recycled packaging. you could perhaps, give the option of `brand new` packaging for appropriate extra cost.

I don't mind being sent re-used jiffy bags. But once the seller charged me £1.50 for a re-used jiffy bag and a 2nd class stamp! I gave positive, but made a note on feedback.

I sometimes use recycled materials, but I always price the postage right.

I use anything at all to package my items; one of my buyers received their item in a box that my (new!) loo was delivered in.....not very glamorous, but it was perfect.
I don't charge for my packaging at all, only the postage itself.

And I bet your star rating for P&P still is not a full 5 out of 5?!

i have no problem with reusing packaging
however i would show it on the listing that you do and make sure your P&P reflects that

on the flip side i ordered a haynes manual the other day and it came in a fancy sealed cardboard type packaging.
most impressive so you have to weigh up the impression/savings

Which proves that some people are never happy to give a 5...

You are gaining nothing from your generosity, I charge around 50p for packaging, and my rating is 4.9 as well.
