Superfit fraud

I found out that someone had been using my card to shop from superfit, which (after some searching) I found is some sort of discount sports nutrition website. So I immediately contacted my bank to stop my card and then contacted superfit to alert them to the fraudulent transactions, but my name and home address were not on system (clearly I didn't ask them to check for my card number) and we were at a dead end. They informed me that they would keep an eye out for transactions using my name or address. This was all on the 15th of april. On the 25th april I checked my bank statement only to find that someone had used my card at superfit on the 16th of april and due to the fact that superfit had the payment declined they contacted my branch directly and the money was transferred to them on the 24th april. When I contacted the Natwest fraud hotline they apologised but said that they couldn't guarantee I would get the money back for the transaction even though it was a banking error, and the teller should have paid attention to the note on the bank account re: fraudulent transactions.
So I have two questions; Is there anyway I can get my money back? and given that superfit were made aware of the fact that my card had been used illegally are they responsible for pushing for a transaction to go through that they were aware was fraudulent?
I've been advised not to close my account until the fraud investigation has been completed, but I'm really very worried that the same issue will happen again! Please help!

I second what mcjordi said. If you informed the bank then I don't think the fact that the company approached your bank directly has anything to do with it. Your bank was in the wrong for paying something without your permission! Don't let them tell you otherwise - but as you found they'll probably try to!
So you should get your money back if you complain enough.
To stop it happening again - ignore your bank! Ask for a new card. Say you don't trust their processes and you want to be safe than sorry. It's in the banks interest too - someone else obviously has your details so you want to make sure it's not used fraudently again.
Just my opinion....0 -
Thankyou! I already cancelled the card and got a new card, next stop is probably writing to Natwest and demanding the money back....
I'm just still quite shocked that the retailer pushed for the transaction even though they knew that the card was stolen! Damned shops...0 -
I believe banks keep a recording of phone calls, so if they argue it might be worth asking them to check that.
I would go ballistic if my bank was told my card details were being used illegally and then put through a pyment manually! I would probably even consider going to the police. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
