Holiday Inn

Hi everyone

I'll be staying in a Holiday Inn for quite a number of days in May due to a job I'm doing.

I've stayed in LOADS of Travel Lodges and Premier Inns yet never a Holiday Inn.

Are there any loyalty clubs, rewards programs etc worth joining?

Keep in mind the company is paying the room rate so I'm more concerned about points, free stays etc than the price itself.

Also, do they offer cooked breakfast? Is it cheaper if booked at the same time as the room? How does it compare to Premier Inn's cooked breakkie?

Thanks:beer:

Yes - Holiday Inn has its own reward programme which gives points for stays which can then be redeemed for free. You register on-line and can than print off your member card which you present at check-in. Whether you get the points would depend whether room was registered in yours or the company's name I would guess

Yes, Holiday Inn has Priority Club for points.

At the moment they are doing a special offer for May and June, if you stay for 2 paid nights (doesn't have to be consecutive) you will get an emailed voucher entitling you to a free night's stay (maximum of four free nights can be gained in this way).

So register on their Priority Club asap, then go onto their website and register for the promotion, and if you stay for 8 nights you will get 4 free nights stay. Holiday Inns seem to be in most countries, though they have recently sold their Holiday Inn in EuroDisney (boooo).

Breakfast is included in Holiday Inn Express only and is only continental breakfast. I wouldn't pay for the normal breakfast in a Holiday Inn as it costs around £17.

If you say which part of the country you are staying I may be able to tell you the best hotel to go to as I stay in them all the time for my work.

The best quality Holiday Inns are the Crowne Plazas.

    .
depends on the offer you take, you can get most deals with breakfast, we got b&b just last week for £43 for 4 of us it should have been 89 and oddly we just went for best available rate :)

Well worth registering asap to the main scheme. Read the deals carefully (particularly the stay two get one night free) I have been on the phone re: the to 30 April deal, and basically the earlier you registered the worse off you end up as they only give one night free (they make up your points). All that said a 4 night stay (not consec) normally gives me a free night, which is generous at a HI express, and they have bargain hotels from 5000 points. I'd say it has the edge on Hilton for free nights. Also, they never run out of date, and there is no blackout periods. If you milk the point system a little (apply for their credit card etc.) you can find yourself heading towards gold and platinum very quickly, where you get an extra % of points. I book thru my company and still get the points but you have to make sure you present your card at reception. Take no notice of the "you will get a better room stuff" - most HIs have standard rooms pretty much throughout, and I have turned up recently as a platinum member and found my room double booked. I have had preferential treatment in some hotels, free wifi and the like. When I have used the free rooms the hotels have been very generous accomodating my kids (who eat free). In summary, well worth joining the scheme, but make sure you keep an eye on your points (online). It is probably one of the best loyalty schemes going if you put up with their hotels (some are quite poor for the price !) HTH , sal xx PS the brekky is brilliant, the scrambled egg is the same world over, and hard to beat in my opinion.....

Definately register, and look for the points,

The express checkin/checkout is one benifit.

Not sure it is worth looking for cheap deals if work is paying most have reduced/no points,

There are some deals that have extra points.

Theoretically no blackout dates, you try getting a free night somewhere reasonable in August though and see what happens.

ICHotels (Holiday Inn) are paying 7% on Quidco, there are others such as Hotel Connect, Expedia, LastMinute.

If you are paying with a company credit card (or your own!) and paying normal rates this adds up pretty quick. We have done this with Hilton as well.
