Am I the only person who finds it annoying to read posts that say "I've bought this cheap stuff but have no idea what to do with it. Please help".

Buy stuff you know how to use and leave the rest for people who can make the most of it.

It doesn't annoy me, in fact it makes me happy and fills me with admiration for the people who use this forum.

Most people would look at stuff reduced in a shop and think "That's very cheap, but I can't buy it because I don't know what to do with it."

But some people think "That's very cheap, I haven't got a clue what to do with it, but I'm going to buy it anyway. Because I've got an army of friends on MSE who will be only too willing to teach me what to do with it."

So when I see someone on here buy something they don't know what to do with, I see someone confident enough to buy it knowing they will go from not knowing what to do with it to knowing too many things to do with it. With one post they will go from not knowing what to do with it to knowing so many things they can decide what to do first.

As for leaving it for those who already know what to do with it, if we all did that we would not learn!

    Really?

I bow to no one in my admiration of people who take advantage of offers.

However, this board seems, on my, admittedly infrequent, visits to have more than its fair share of people who just buy stuff because it's cheap rather than because they have any use for it or need it or want it.
