You could freeze the ham as it is an use it in sanwiches at a later date, would also use less freezer space.
Ham, egg and chips would be fairly economical. Ham is also nice with pasta, acn't think of anything else atm.

Am I the only person who finds it annoying to read posts that say "I've bought this cheap stuff but have no idea what to do with it. Please help".

Buy stuff you know how to use and leave the rest for people who can make the most of it.

Can you not eat it with baked spuds and salad, or make sandwiches with it?

Yes, quite probably you are. If we only ever stuck to food we knew how to cook it would be a pretty boring world and no one would ever learn anything new. This forum is all about people " making the most of it " and who you are to start judging who should and shouldn't receive help ?

Right, that over with - To the OP - you could use the ham to stuff baked spuds with - take out cooked tater innards and mash with butter, chop up and mix with the potato and some grated cheese then slip back in the oven for ten minutes to reheat, or in a similar fashion, parboil some spuds ( peeled or not according to taste ) slice, layer in a casserole/ pie dish with the ham chopped up or shredded, some finely chopped onion, sliced tomatoes, grated cheese and fresh chopped parsley if you have it, cover with a white or cheese sauce and pop it in a moderate oven for about 30-40 mins. Both these freeze well. :)

I'm sure there's loads! Pea and ham soup, omelettes, fritatta - good cold too for lunches, Souffle baked pots - bake potatoes, scoop out insides and add fried veg and ham or what ever you have. Bind with egg white, put back in potato skins and bake - yum topped with cheese. Cheese and ham toasties, ham salads, Hamcakes (just made these up but same basisi as fishcakes made with potato etc and fried? - actually sounds similar to ham fritters which you can find heaps of recipes for on google. HTH !

kittyscarlett, thanks for the idea with baked spuds, normally I just use it with salad, sarnies or egg & chips, but that sounds very tasty, especialy as I picked up a RFQS pack in Morrison's this afternoon

Sorry LandyAndy, just had to have it, along with the Porkinson bangers also RFQS

Put some pasta on to boil. Chop an onion and fry gently in a couple of spoonsful of oil. Chop your ham up into half-inch squares (ie put all slices together, slice lengthwise 5 or 6 times, then crosswise 6 or 7 times). Slide the ham into the pan with the onion. Give it a zhuzh round until it's heated through. Sprinkle a tablespoon or so full of flour over the top and stir in (onions and ham will go a bit sticky). Now GRADUALLY stir in some milk until you've got a thickish sauce. This isn't like making a white sauce with a roux, in case you're worried - it's much easier and doesn't go lumpy as long as you stir the flour into the onions and ham first. Grate some cheese into the mix and season with pepper (you probably won't need salt because of the cheese). Drain your pasta and stir into the frying pan until it's coated with sauce (how much pasta you use will depend on how much sauce you've got, obviously).
You can stop at this point BUT it's nicer if you then tip the whole lot in an oven dish, grate some more cheese over the top and then bung under the grill until the cheese is bubbling. If you haven't got huge amounts of cheese, you can mix some breadcrumbs in with the cheese to make it go further and give a nice crispy topping.
Et voila! Sort of lasagne. Ish. I make this all the time with ham that's looking a bit neglected in the fridge. Also works with leftover chicken, or with a mixture of the two if you haven't got much of each. This also makes a nice filling for pancakes which you then roll up, bung cheese on top and put under grill as before. That's sort of canneloni. Ish.
Sorry the measurements aren't exact, but I don't really measure things. I say a tablespoonful of flour but I generally just shake the packet.

    To add,

Cheese sauce isn't scary as long as you have something to catch the flour in. A sauce that starts with onions or leeks is more foolproof than one that starts with nothing but butter. For some reason it doesn't go lumpy.
